The Orange Dilemma: A Lesson in Mindful Productivity

Late one night, you stumble upon two friends locked in a heated argument over an orange. What would you do? To resolve the issue quickly, you would cut the orange in half, give each a part and send them to bed. Then you would goto sleep thinking you have resolved the issue fairly. The next morning, however, you find them arguing over the same orange again. What went wrong? You assumed that splitting the orange equally was the best solution. But you never asked why they needed the orange in the first place. One friend needed the peel for a face pack. The other wanted the juice. By dividing the orange blindly, neither got what they truly needed.  This simple story holds powerful lessons for mindful productivity. 1. Don’t Provide Solutions Based on Assumption  At first glance, splitting the orange seemed fair. But it ignored both your friends actual needs.  The same applies to life and productivity what looks like a solution may not actually address the real issue. Id...

What triggers Bad Action?

In a tranquil village nestled amidst emerald fields, a mischievous demon, with a penchant for chaos, untied a donkey from its pole. The liberated animal, driven by instinct, wandered into a nearby farmer's field, destroying the precious crops. Enraged at the sight of her ruined livelihood, the farmer's wife impulsively shot the donkey.  The donkey's owner, consumed by grief and anger, retaliated by taking the life of the farmer's wife.  The farmer, in a blind fury, sought vengeance by shooting the donkey's owner.  The cycle of violence escalated as the donkey owner's wife, driven by despair and a desire for retribution, incited her son to burn down the farmer's house. Believing the farmer to be inside, they carried out their plan that evening. A late return from the market brought the farmer face-to-face with a nightmare: his house was ablaze. Consumed by grief and rage, he tragically took the lives of the widow and her child. Haunted by the horror of his ac...

Loyal Mutt or Scary Dog? It Depends Who You Ask

A scruffy dog wagged its tail excitedly, seeing a familiar face on the street. Years had passed, so the man was surprised the dog still remembered him. He chuckled, "Loyal mutt," while giving it a pat. Later, on the same street, chaos erupted. Two figures snatched a purse and ran, leaving a girl crying. The watching dog sprang into action, barking fiercely and chasing after the thieves. One of them stumbled, dropping the purse, and cursed at the dog, "Good-for-nothing dog!" When the dog triumphantly returned the purse to the girl, she exclaimed, "Wow! You're so cute!" Nearby, a group of children witnessing the scene cheered "He's a hero!". Evening brought a young boy clinging tightly to his mother's hand. Spotting the dog across the street, he froze, his eyes widening. A whimper escaped his lips, "Scary dog, Mommy!" Different shouts echoed through the day - loyal, good-for-nothing, cute, hero, scary. These were just words, c...

Dont let suffering become part of your identity

Image
Life may not be without pain.  But life can be without suffering.  Suffering is when you relive the pain long after the event occurred.  It will not be easy to let go of suffering that has become part of your identity.  Be careful of what you choose to repeat in your thoughts.  Suffering is always optional. What is Purpose Coach - A discussion

Image
Hello all, I got my license as Purpose Coach from Edify Labs on 18th Feb 2022. Here I am discussing what it really is with Ravindra Srinivasa of SRAA Media. About me: I was raised in Mumbai, shifted to Banglore post-marriage, and got a house in Chengalpet near Chennai last year. I have been a software developer for 9 yrs and am now a newly licensed purpose coach.   Why did I become a coach? During the lockdown, I went into a negative spiral and approached a few coaches to get into the right mindset and it is how I manifested my current house. I loved reading books. and. I have read books like the secret, power of the subconscious mind, etc. However, when interacting with my coach I quickly realized there is a wide gap between the way I learned from the book and how I implement when guided by a coach, After settling in my new house I started feeling a sense of void and took a break from my coach and through the interactions with my friends where I helped them my newly acq...

Tackle your Resolutions like a Marathon Runner - Slow but steady

Image
It is that time of the year again when we make big plans and resolutions for the next year. Though we start with full energy soon we find it dwindling and before the end of the first month we give up. This happens because most of us tackle our resolution like a 300m dash runner, who starts sprinting at max capacity when the whistle blows. As soon as it is the year changes on Jan 1, you put in all your physical and mental energy in working on the goals you have set but gradually you find yourself unable to maintain the enthusiasm or energy levels to continue for the rest of the month. Why not approach our resolutions a bit differently this year? Let's approach it like a marathon runner. Start slowly, gradually accelerating till we go for a grand finish. First of all, a marathon runner will start gearing up weeks before the actual event, preparing his body for the long tedious run. At the race, he will not rush forward with full gusto but will start slowly and run relaxedly,...
